[ANNC] Circumstances Behind Article Casting Doubt On Number 3000 for JYJ Spain Concert

Dispatch is well-known to be the leading tabloid/gossip publication in Korea.

On November 3rd, Dispatch published an article with the headline of “Did 3000 Come? JYJ, the Truth Behind the Controversy of Having Manipulated the [Facts About] the Spain Concert.” (Found hereThe article asserted that the figure of 3000 was false.

Responding to this, on November 3rd, Lee Jaeun (@beyondmonica) who is the publicist to JYJ tweeted the following:

[TRANS] Was totally nervous for the 13 hours of flight to the degree that I developed my trapezius muscles. When I landed I received the text messages from many. Yes, I feel that I made the right decision. Indeed, best response to an action with malicious intent is to “not respond” at all. Now meeting is over. Let’s unpack. It is now Berlin. ^^”

[TRANS] @fan As for the rumors [about JYJ], the managers [care enough to the degree that they] go to the police station once a week and it is also something that we find to be the most pressing. But as the the article, over 30 strong media outlets prove [our facts] and there is not even 1% of lies on our side and so there is no need to respond.

This is the statement made by JYJ’s publicist herself on this particular article. (1) In other words, JYJ’s publicist herself informed the fans that the article is a rumor and that its writer does not deserve the satisfaction of receiving our attention.

————————

As the publicist writes, many articles from legitimate newspapers (i.e., not tabloid-like) stated clearly that Open Music Jordi, the promoter of JYJ in Spain, confirmed that 3000 persons attended the Spain concert. We translated one of them here.

(2) In other words, all articles except one in the vast universe of Korean media stated that 3000 attended the Spain concert and many even explicitly referred to the promoter to confirm the exact contrary of what Dispatch alluded.

————————-

The reaction from the Korean JYJ fandom was also informative. The translators of JYJ3 read Korean and thus we also read the Korean web. Every single large-scale JYJ fansite (there are no large-scale ‘OT5’ fansite in Korea) denounced Dispatch, the leading gossip tabloid in Korea, and posted photos and videos that clearly showed that an audience numbering about 3000 had come to the Spain concert. The readers have seen many of them and so we won’t repost them here.

(3) In other words, the Korean JYJ fandom overwhelmingly and clearly rejected the Dispatch article as untrustworthy and provided ample proof. This was crystal clear to anyone who read Korean and read the Korean web.

————————-

After the fans of JYJ pummeled the publication editor, Dispatch tweeted the following:

[TRANS] Ah… the mentions are flying in like daggers. Looks like we should do an at-site report of JYJ’s Berlin, Germany concert. Everyone please wait first, why don’t you…

Indeed, a few days later, Dispatch issued a favorable article on the Berlin report. JYJ3 translated this (see here) because at this time Dispatch was still a hot topic on the Korean JYJ web due to its November 3rd article and we wanted to have this article translated in case there ever appeared a need. Unfortunately, the need did eventually present itself.

————-

Please re-read our bolded statements above. The conclusion is clear—the Dispatch article was a rumor as asserted by the publicist of JYJ herself, was directly contrary to every single other article available on the issue, and anyone who could read Korean could see this clearly. Under these circumstances, JYJ3 would have committed a needless harm against JYJ to translate and spread the Dispatch article and thus we chose not to.

And as a final note, we find it interesting that a certain blog that purports to support all fiveconsistently and selectively translates and disseminates articles that are well-known to be untrustworthy and needlessly damaging to Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu. Actions speak louder than words. There are many fake things in this world, but nothing so disgusting as a fake OT5.

Thank you.
